The staff of Peoria heights High School
believes it is our purpose to take a leadership role in education young
people in Peoria Heights to become contributing members of society.
We believe it is our purpose to aid students in acquiring the discipline,
motivation, and self-esteem to fit into the world beyond high school.
We believe that our first responsibility
is to help the individual student master the skills, concepts, ideas and
knowledge the curriculum is designed to provide. We also believe
that students' emotional, social, and personal needs are important.
We believe it is important to emphasize
skills such as the ability to read, listen, comprehend and interpret
written and visual materials; use reason to solve problems; and
effectively apply oral and written communication.
We believe the school should encourage
students to adopt healthy lifestyles through the physical education and
health education programs.
We believe that students need an
understanding of technological, scientific and mathematical principles and
their applications.
We believe student must be acquainted
with a variety of career and academic options.
We believe that school should develop in
the students a sense of belonging and provide leadership experience
through participation in a variety of extra-curricular activities and
community service.
We believe these goals will be achieved
successfully by our students when school, home, and community work
together to encourage personal qualities of self-discipline, confidence,
goal setting, respect for self and others and the maturity to accept
responsibility for their actions.
