Academic Challenge 2003

The 2003 Academic Challenge participants include Grant Allen, Samantha Black, Ashley Cranford, Kristin Dennis, Dustin Dozard, Ryan Foster, Matt Fuller, Nick Hinton, Andrew Jackson, Noah Johnson, Nick Lawrence, Justin Massey, Jamie Reichert, Marcus Shipman, Joe Symmonds, Amanda Thrush, Adam Wallenfang, Hal Woo, and Susan Woo.

The team placed second to Princeville at the ICC Regional. Regional medallists included: Adam Wallenfang, third in chemistry; Nick Hinton, third in computers; Ashley Cranford, third in physics; Ryan Foster, third in drafting; Nick Hinton, first in English; Dustin Dozard, first in physics; and Adam Wallenfang, first in biology. At the Bradley Sectional Andrew qualified for the state contest by placing second in physics and Adam qualified by placing second in biology. The team finished in 6th place. The PHHS team has qualified for the state contest six times. Those teams were 1994 (fourth), 1995 (ninth), 1996 (seventh), 1997 (third), 1998 (fourth), and 2000 (eighth).

Teachers assisting in the contest include Rich Henz for biology, Jerry Crumrine and Craig Smock for math, Gloria Sidell for English, John Smith for graphics, and Jeff Vallosio for chemistry and physics.
