PHHS 1995-96 Scholastic Bowl
In the 1996 season there were 21 varsity, 2 junior varsity, and frosh-soph interscholastic competitions the varsity record was 56 wins and 15 losses, while the JV record was 2 wins and 6 losses, and the frosh-soph was 1 win and 11 losses. The varsity team placed first in the Prairieland conference with a 19-2 record, first at PHHS Casimir Pulaski tournament, third at Midwest Central tournament, second at Brimfield Donut, first at Eureka Masonic and Farmington IHSA Sectionals, and third at State IHSA.
The top varsity toss-up question answerer was Dan Walters with 367 toss-up questions answered. This is a school record. His four-year toal of 681 surpasses the previous record by Drew Stout with 631, although Drew's per quiz avereage of 3.6 is greater. Dan was named to five all-tournament teams (County, Decatur, Donut, Niantic, Conference). Caitlin McLaughlin was also named to the conference team. Cautlin was second with 100 correct answers. Eric Lockhart with 54, Pat Aylward with 50, Travis Bartell with 21, Kevin Marfell with 11, Shaun Lewis, Lloyd Joned, and Sarah Terrell with 2 each rounded out the toss-up answerers. The team as a whole answered 609 questions for an 8.6 answer per quiz average. This is a new team record surpassing the 8.4 in 1994.
