Scholastic Bowl 1989 Summary

The Scholastic Bowl team took part in eight competitions and had a record of 6 wins and 32 losses. Students practiced together during lunch and some nonschool days from October to April. Thirteen students comprised the regular team with several others filling in when needed. Seniors included Rory Stoller (27 answers), Julie Simmons, Dustin Rolofson, and Dennis Farney. Juniors involved were Linh Trin (8), Monica Claude (6), and captain Brett Davis (63). Sophomores Bert Wombacher (58 including 13 in JV competition), Charlie Howe, Jake Murrie, Aaron Plate, and freshmen Chanel Cornwell and Denise Engle also quizzed. Varsity letters were awarded to Brett, Bert, Rory, Linh, and Monica. JV letters were awarded to Julie, Dustin, Charlie, and Channel. Certificates were given to Dennis, Jake, Aaron, and Denise. Brett and Rory earned 3^rd and 4^th place medals as members of the five-person Blackhawk all-tournament team. Brett was also named to the Peoria County all-tournament team.

Three staff members defeated the students for the second consecutive year. Thanks goes to them and to Mr. Gamboe and Mr. Wetzler for their support and help during the year.
