Literature:  fiction, nonfiction, and poetry by American authors; four classic novels

Composition: three expository and two persuasive compositions

Research paper: five-six page persuasive paper using MLA documentation

Job Shadowing: shadow a career person and then present an eight minute speech on the experience

1st Semester

Grammar: sentence parts, parts of speech, usage

Literature: Greek myths and legends, Romeo and Juliet

Creative writing: story endings and poems

 

2nd Semester

Grammar:  sentence parts, parts of speech, and usage

Speech:  research and presentation skills, delivery of speeches according to rubrics

Literature:  Animal Farm

Composition: formula writing and the five-paragraph composition

 

 

English IIIB

Grammar: same as Eng. IIIA (material is not as difficult)

Literature: fiction, nonfiction, and poetry by American authors; Of Mice and Men

Composition: same as Eng. IIIA

Research paper: same as Eng. IIIA

Job Shadowing: same as Eng. IIIA
